Still in Nairobi

Alright so I am probably going to break some rules here but who cares.

I have been assigned to a secondary school in the Western Province of Kenya. I will be teaching Physics to all 4 grade levels, which will amound to 14 classes a week. I will probably also pick up one or two other classes so I will probably be teaching about 25 classes a week, which is about average. The house I have been given looks nice in the photo. It sounds like I will have piped water so I don’t have to lug 20 liter jugs from the well every day. It looks like it is in a walled compound also, so I will have my own little fortress. I am about 30 km from Lake Victoria so that will be nice spot to visit.

I have been trying to upload photos but it takes about 10 minutes per photo so who knows how many I will be able to upload to the Flickr site. I have selected a few nice ones to put up of the other volunteers and myself. I have also listed the websites of 2 other volunteers I am here with the will be in the Links section with PC after their names in Parenthesis.

In case no one got my snail mail address:

Seth Lamble
c/o Peace Corps Kenya
PO Box 30518
Nairobi, Kenya

Any mail sent to that address will be forwarded on to me at site.

In case anyone is curious I am currently 9 hours different then back home in Kansas. When it is lunch time (12) at home it is 9 o’clock at night here. So when you all are waking up I am winding down. Not quite on the other side of the world but close.

In a little less than a month I will be sworn in (hopefully) and from there it is 2 years of site work. I took a mock ACTFL exam last week and got Novice High on it, I need to get Intermediate Low (the next step from there) in Kiswahili at the end of training though.

Once again Peace Corps Out.
