Feng Shui

To make the atmosphere of my apartment more welcoming I’ve been adorning the walls with several different works of art. Since I’m a guy, it’s been a very slow and relatively painful process. It’s hard enough for me to go shopping, let alone looking for something I find aesthetically pleasing enough to allow into my apartment. Therefore everything I have up has a deeper connection to me than just something I bought because it looked nice.

The first picture is an original Lichtenstein that I found in my parent’s basement. Go ahead and ignore the reflected flash in the middle of the picture. It earned a place in my bedroom very near the Liverpool flag that sits above my bed. I’ve mentioned the Beatles records in a previous post and they share the living room with a framed panoramic view of tailgaters outside Arrowhead stadium at sunset which might just be the second most beautiful picture I’ve ever seen. The first being the free Royal’s magnet I got for going to the home opener that has been proudly placed on my refrigerator. Finally, I have decided to support some of Kansas City’s local artists by hanging a couple original Rachel Johnsons. She did the picture of the fruit which hangs in my kitchen and the collage of my family which hangs in my “office”… and she might have had something to do with the Lichtenstein. I know local artists are pricey, but I’ve always been a strong believer that you can’t put a price on true beauty.
